Copyright & DMCA policy

RelicDB catalogs factual information about collectibles. The collectibles themselves — their names, artwork, and trademarks — belong to their respective rights holders, and RelicDB is not affiliated with or endorsed by them. Catalog images are displayed only on RelicDB pages and are never redistributed through data exports or APIs. They include contributor scans and photographs as well as stock images.

Data sources and credits

Catalog data and images are imported from independent, community-run databases. Imported items name their source under Sources & credits and link to the corresponding source record. Item pages also credit RelicDB contributors whose accepted edits changed the record. Our current import sources cover four trading card games:

These sources are not affiliated with RelicDB and do not endorse it. Everything else in the catalog comes from contributors and administrators.

Image submissions

These requirements apply to submitted scans, photographs, and stock images of all collectibles. You may crop excess background or make other presentation adjustments where the applicable source terms and permissions allow them.

For the main catalog image, prefer a clear scan or photograph of an example in the best available condition. For rare or hard-to-find items, useful images of worn or damaged examples are welcome when better images are unavailable.

Preserve identifying details and attribution. Preserve copyright lines, artist or creator credits, maker's marks, and identifying labels: do not crop them out, cover them, or erase them. Edits must preserve the details that identify the item and distinguish its version or variation. See the contribution guidelines.

Stock images

Stock images are reference images from manufacturers, publishers, or other rights holders. They may be supplied through the data source credited on the item's page. Item pages label imported stock images "Stock image" with their source.

  • They show a collectible's general appearance. A stock image does not document the specific item you own or its condition, wear, grade, or authenticity. The stock image beside an item in your collection is the same reference image everyone sees, not a photo of your own collectible.
  • They belong to their rights holders. Images and the artwork, text, and designs they depict belong to their respective rights holders. RelicDB shows stock images under the applicable data-source terms and rights-holder permissions (see Rights-holder notices above). We don't own them and can't license them to you.
  • No watermarks from other data sources. Images bearing watermarks added by other databases, marketplaces, auction sites, or data sources are not accepted, even with permission to use the image. Use your own scan or photograph, or obtain an authorized version without the watermark; do not erase or crop it out to bypass this rule. Preserve original creator credits and copyright notices.
  • Permission is required for uploads. Contributors' own scans and photographs are preferred. Stock images may be submitted only with permission covering both the upload and RelicDB's uses described in sections 4 and 5 of the Terms of Service. Images copied from other sites without that permission may be removed. See the contribution guidelines.
  • They can be taken down. A rights holder or data source can ask for a stock image to be removed using the process below. If a source's terms stop allowing us to show its images, we remove them.

Reporting infringement

If you believe content on RelicDB infringes your copyright, send a takedown notice to our designated DMCA agent:

Attn: Copyright Manager
Eko Wave LLC
PO Box 24620
Rochester, NY 14624
United States
Email: content@ekowave.com

Your notice should include:

  • identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed;
  • the RelicDB URL(s) of the material you want removed;
  • your contact information;
  • a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for them;
  • your physical or electronic signature.

You can also flag material directly with the "Report a problem" link on any catalog page, choosing the copyright concern category — reports reach the same administrators.

Our process

Takedown requests are reviewed manually by site administrators. Material subject to a valid notice is removed or disabled promptly. Contributors whose content is removed are notified and may file a counter-notice with the same contact; repeat infringers' accounts are terminated.
